4. Procedure

The hair transplant process usually starts with a medical check the day before. The procedure itself takes just a few hours, followed by a follow-up exam the next day.

FUT

FUT is the oldest hair transplant method. It involves removing a small strip of skin with multiple hair follicles and transplanting it to balding areas. While this method is sometimes preferred over moving individual follicles (FUE), it does leave some scarring in the donor area. For most cases, FUE or DHI tends to be a better option.

FUE

FUE, developed in the early 2000s, involves making tiny incisions around individual hair follicles and then implanting them into pre-cut channels in the balding areas. It's now the preferred method over FUT because it offers faster recovery, smaller incisions, and virtually no noticeable scarring.

DHI

DHI is a more recent version of FUE that uses a specialized grafting pen. This tool allows for immediate extraction and implantation, eliminating the need for the surgeon to cut channels in the recipient area. As a result, DHI reduces scarring and irritation compared to FUE, while also increasing the survival rate of each graft to around 90%+.
